Memoir Author, Susan J. Tweit, Discusses Her New CD
This week on Women’s Memoirs, we’re honoring women’s life stories through our focus on Alzheimer’s — a disease that robs us of stories. You probably know someone who has Alzheimer’s or know someone who has become the caregiver of an Alzheimer’s patient. In the midst of coping with this devastating disease, we sometimes forget that life stories are being lost.
Yesterday, Kendra posted a review of Cathie Borrie’s memoir, The Long Hello: The Other Side of Alzheimer’s. Today, we are delighted to share with you our interview with award-winning author and memoirist Susan J. Tweit. You may remember our interview with Susan when her memoir, Walking Nature Home, was published. Now she has published an audio CD — WildLives: Celebrating the World Around Us — her first venture in self-publishing.
We invite you to listen to our 15 minute conversation where Susan shares her experiences with developing this CD. We hope it inspires you to consider putting some of your memoir vignettes on CD to share with your family.
You see, Susan created this CD as a gift of love to her mother who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s this fall. Her mother found comfort in Susan’s voice but Susan couldn’t stay on the phone with her all day. So she recorded 28 stories … well, I don’t want to spoil the interview.
