catnav-news-active-3Post #46 – Women’s Memoirs, News – Kendra Bonnett and Matilda Butler

A quick post this Sunday afternoon that should appeal to memoir writers looking to get that first piece into print. Terri Spahr Nelson, editor of the Reflections from Women book series for Sugati Publications, reports that she is currently accepting short essays and poems for three upcoming editions.

Nelson is looking for works between 500 and 2000 words, and all work must be based on true events. You will find general details at ReflectionsFromWomen.com and submission information here.

Here are the topics and deadlines for the next three books:

“The Moment I Knew,” describing moments of significance or clarity in women’s lives: Your essays and poems are due December 1, 2010

“Reflections from Women at Midlife,” due May 1, 2011

“Lessons to my Children,” with an open deadline at this time.

This strikes us as an excellent opportunity for aspiring memoir writers who want some credits to their name. There is no financial compensation, but writers whose work is accepted will receive two complimentary copies of the book.
