Memoir Contest Deadline Draws Near
Graceful summer foliage turns yellow. Children walk to school rather than the park. Even television programs know it is time to a new season.
Explore your memories of fall seasons past. When you think of the fall, what memory comes to mind first? How about an Indian summer when you were a child. Perhaps you now grow vegetables in a small garden plot in your yard and the fall becomes a time for the final harvest. Is fall a joyful time when writing resumes after the craziness of summer?
Whatever your memory, take the time to find the story beneath those leaves and the winter squash. Write the story, polish it, read it out loud to catch any remaining small problems, fix them, and submit your carefully crafted story to Women’s Memories for our Fall 2012 Contest.
1 — The deadline is almost here — September 30, 2012
2 — Desired length is between 500 – 1500 words
3 — Be sure to give your story a title, craft a powerful opening and closing
