Post #101 – Women’s Memoir Writing, ScrapMoir – Matilda Butler and Kendra Bonnett
June Memoir Contest Winners Announced
It’s that time again — an announcement of winners — winners of our fifth memoir writing contest for 2011. Kendra and I are pleased to have so many women send us their memoir contest entries. We have entries both from women who have entered before and from women who have entered for the first time. In our final set of winners, we have a variety of stories. Like last month that focused on Mother’s Day, we had some entries with wonderful recollections and some with difficult ones. These are marvelously honest stories that show how others influence our lives.
The entries this month were easy to categorize — some were about fathers and Father’s Day. Others were about June with all of its ties to summer. Kendra and I read the entries in order to select the best ones. We hope you enjoy reading the stories as we publish them. All the winners are announced below. Later today we will publish the first place winner in each of our two categories. All other winners will be published later this year.
Note: If you did not win this month, we want you to know that we appreciate your contest entry. It takes courage and determination to write you story and submit it. That is a real accomplishment. We urge you to enter one of our future contests. There are numerous topics in the coming contests. For the complete list, go to: http://WomensMemoirs.com/contests.
Below is the complete list of winners. The two First Place winning stories will appear later today. One this morning at 10 am and the second at 2 pm (PDT). We hope you’ll return and read both. The Honorable Mentions will be published in the fall.
