This caused me to read Hero Mama: A Daughter Remembers the Father She Lost in Vietnam–and the Mother Who Held Her Family Together by Karen Spears Zacharias. Kay Redfield Jamison’s newest memoir, Nothing Was the Same, is reviewed by Lanie Tankard, who shares with us both the strengths of Jamison’s writing skills and her own story. Jamison and Tankard both lost their husbands to lung cancer. In this review of intertwined stories, we see the value of the universal message as others can both relate and gain perspective through what we write.
