Post #97 – Memoir Writing News – Kendra Bonnett and Matilda Butler

Happy Birthday Kendra
Congratulations, Kendra. You definitely don’t look older, but the calendar tells me that it’s your birthday.
Balloons? Cake? Lobster?
How will you celebrate your special day?
I want to invite all of our readers to wish you a Happy Birthday.
Memoir Writing Prompt
When a good friend has a birthday, it often brings back memories of our own birthdays or those of our children. When you read this blog, we hope you’ll use it as an opportunity to write for 10 minutes.
1. What is your favorite birthday present from your last birthday?
2. What is the one birthday gift that you’ll always remember?
3. What is the best birthday gift you’ve ever given?
4. Have you ever forgotten a family member’s birthday? Write about the circumstances. [And hey. Don’t beat yourself up. We’re all only human.]
Enjoy the Day
The words above are, of course, meant for Kendra. But they are also meant for each person reading this blog post. Imagine it is exactly one year from now and you have an opportunity to read about today, June 11, 2013. What will you write? What have you done for yourself to enjoy the day? What have you done for someone else? Maybe, you’ll look back on this day and recall that you started a new writing project or made good progress on your current writing or you got an idea for a novel or you connected with an old friend for the first time in 10 years.
There are many ways to make this day special. Do one of them.
