Post #204 – Women’s Memoirs, Writing Prompts and Life Prompts – Matilda Butler
A Last Visit to Inspirational Writing Prompts (at Least for Now)
This is my last return to the topic of inspirational/motivational messages. In previous posts I’ve written about inspirational messages that I photographed while walking around Oregon State University. I wanted to document as many as possible because a new theme will soon appear on the next set of campus banners. All of the OSU themes are interesting, but I especially like these when interpreted as writing prompts as well as personal messages for writers.
Here are two more of these messages. Of course, these statements aren’t about the craft of writing, or plot, or story structure. But being inspired in your life and your writing is quite motivational.
Here are the links to the previous three:

Memoir Writing Prompts
Writing Prompt #1. You Climb Mountains. I’m not an actual mountain climber and you may not be either. But life offers us many mountains. Sometimes we find a way around a mountainous challenge. Other times, we climb right up and over the situation. I find the concept of climbing a mountain to be exhilarating and frightening. And, truth be told, that’s the way I feel about many of life challenges. How about you?
Think about the mountains you have already climbed and some you know are ahead. Use the following prompts and write for five minutes about each.
It’s nice knowing “You Climb Mountains.” If it is something we already do, then we can continue doing it.
Writing Prompt #2. You Ignite Excellence. As the final inspirational statement and writing prompt in this series, I thought “excellence” would be just the right topic. Everything we do in life is more personally satisfying and has better outcomes when we strive for excellence. But excellence takes extra time and effort so we need to appreciate those times when we feel what we are doing is important enough to merit the extra energy.
Choose one or more of the following statements and write for five minutes.

In previous weeks did you write the list of motivational messages and post them near your desk? I hope so. Here are the two from this week:
1- I Climb Mountains
2- I Ignite Excellence
All of the concepts in the four blog posts have been meaningful to me as I think about my life and what I hope to accomplish. I love how inspiration comes from so many places when we are on the lookout. I hope you have found some motivation and inspiration in these statements.
