Special Webinar for LinkedIn Women’s Memoirs Group

catnav-news-active-3Post #92 – Memoir Writing News – Kendra Bonnett and Matilda Butler

For the last year or so, Matilda and I have been building a Women’s Memoirs group on LinkedIn. With 2,459 members (and growing), it’s one of the largest memoir writing groups on LinkedIn. More important, we’re blessed with an active group of women and men who enjoy discussing memoir, writing and book marketing.

linkedinWe’ve enjoyed their engagement so much, that lately Matilda and I have been connecting with them through a series of webinars…available exclusively for our LinkedIn members. But this doesn’t mean you can’t get in on the fun. Join LinkedIn and sign up for the Women’s Memoirs group, and you too can sign up for the free webinars.

We’re conducting our second webinar this Thursday. We’ll be answering questions about writing and marketing asked by our members. If you click here and are already a member of our LinkedIn group, you can get all the details, including a link to sign up for the webinar. If you’re not yet on LinkedIn, you’ll find it an active resource for writers; we encourage you to get involved. It’s free. And if you’re on LinkedIn but haven’t yet joined the Women’s Memoirs group…now’s the time to act.

Some of the topics Matilda and I will be discussing:

  • How to handle names and identities of real people when you’re writing about sensitive issues.
  • Ways to incorporate more genealogical information in memoir writing.
  • Writing a “self help” memoir. What is it? Is it a truly new genre of memoir?
  • Using speaking events to market and build opportunities for starting your own writing groups and writing workshops.
  • How to build a platform to market your book.

While you can only sign up for the webinar once you become a member of Women’s Memoirs on LinkedIn, I can tell you that we’ll be holding the webinar online at 5 PM Pacfiic (8 PM Eastern). We’re trying to accommodate working people without making the event too late at night for people on the east coast. If you can’t join us at that time, go ahead and sign up any way. That way you’ll be notified about a replay that you can watch at your convenience.

We look forward to having you join us. And as an added plus, as a member of Women’s Memoirs on LinkedIn, you’ll be part of an active and interesting group of memoir writers. Share information about your writing. Announce the availability of your book. Ask a question. Comment on other writers’ questions and discussion topics. You’ll get a lot out of the interaction.
