Post #90 – Women’s Memoir Writing, ScrapMoir – Matilda Butler and Kendra Bonnett

May Memoir Contest Winners Announced
Welcome once again to the announcement of winners — winners of our fourth memoir writing contest for 2011. Kendra and I are pleased to have so many women send us their memoir contest entries. In our final set of winners, we have some warm and touching stories. But, like life, we also have some bad or difficult memories. We love the diversity, creativity and honesty of these stories that we finally called — All About Mothers.
Once we read the contest entries, we created two categories — Mother’s Day and Mothers and Mothering. Some children were mothered and some had to mother their mothers. Some told of happy, difficult, or sad Mother’s Days. As always, Kendra and I found it difficult to select just a few of the stories. But we did. And now, on Mother’s Day, we are publishing the top two stories in each category.
Note: If you did not win this month, we still thank you for your contest entry. You should feel good about creating your story and sending it. That is an accomplishment. We urge you to enter one of our future contests. There are numerous topics in the coming contests. For the complete list, go to: http://WomensMemoirs.com/contests.
Below is the complete list of winners. The four First Place winning stories will appear throughout the day. One this morning at 10 am, one at noon, one at 2 pm, and the last this evening at 4 pm (all PDT). We hope you’ll return and read all four. The Honorable Mentions will be published in the fall.
