As co-authors of the collective memoir, Rosie’s Daughters: The ‘First Woman To’ Generation Tells Its Story, Kendra Bonnett and I are always on the lookout for women who continue to break barriers and become a FIRST WOMAN TO (FW2).
In our memoir, we document the stories and acknowledge the lives of the generation of women who broke more barriers than any previous generation. This generation, born during World War II, became known in our book a Rosie’s Daughters to highlight the important role played by the millions of Rosie The Riveters who went to work during the war.
Yesterday, Jill Abramson, was named the first woman to be the editor of The New York Times. Although she is a Boomer rather than a Rosie’s Daughter, she clearly embodies the spirit of those who broke through glass ceilings in the previous genera
