On reflection, I’d say it is a little of all of these and even more. I’ll let Dr. Taylor tell you her story in this TED (Technology Education Design) video. In it, Taylor shares the experience of having a massive stroke and what she learned both while it was happening and during her multi-year recovery.
Taylor’s memoir is a combination of intensely personal story, the trauma and recovery of her brain. It is also a story told by a brain scientist who shares with us what she learned about this vital organ because of her stroke. And finally, it is a life lesson that both gives us insight into how we can have more control and access to the differences between our left and right hemispheres and how we can better under others who have had a stroke or other brain injury. A powerful story told powerfully.
