Post #44 – Women’s Memoirs, News – Kendra Bonnett and Matilda Butler
Women’s Memoir Contest
Our current Women’s Memoir Contest has now closed. Kendra and I want to express our thanks to everyone who entered. We received more entries than ever before. Congratulations to each of you because getting your work written, polished, and submitted is important. You should all be proud of yourselves. If you missed this opportunity, we hope you’ll submit when we announce our next contest.
In the meantime, we have many entries to read and evaluate. We hope to announce a winner by the middle of November. Stay tuned.
But Another Contest is Still Open
A couple of weeks ago, Kendra and I announced an important contest sponsored by Janet Riehl of Riehl Life: Village Wisdom. She has created a Second Mile Award to honor her father who soon turns 95. I am lucky to own one of his small walnut carvings — the result of a hobby that he continues. Janet is accepting 500 word entries in which you nominate a person you know and admire who is at least 75. Here’s the link to our post describing the award and here’s the link to Janet’s announcement on her website. The winning nominated person will receive $500 and the vignette about the person will be published on her website. This is a wonderful opportunity to think of and write about an elder you respect and value.
Entries are being accepted until November 7. So get to writing.
