Post #3 – Memoir and Fiction, Writing Alchemy – Matilda Butler and Kendra Bonnett
Kendra decided to take us in quite a different direction with today’s quick tip for writers. I thought we’d go down the grammar road for a while and was already looking for my next tip. Then Kendra says, “Let’s mix it up. There are many dimensions to writing and we don’t want to look like we’re stuck.”
As usual, Kendra was right. She’d been perusing a book on Ernest Hemingway’s thoughts on writing. Many topics are covered in that volume but Kendra highlights two — simplicity in language and … Well, I don’t want to give it all away.
Here’s the third audio. Listen while Kendra and I talk about using simple language to let your story shine through.

In case you are new to our Writing in Five series of brief audios, I’ll mention that we invite you to add your Comments about our writing topics. Have a topic you’d like to suggest? Great. We’ll look for some advice from the experts and create an audio about it.In the meantime, it’s back to working on Writing Alchemy.
Until next time,
Matilda and Kendra
This is certainly not a new book, published in 1985. However, if you’d like to find Hemingway’s thoughts about writing all in one location, then this is the book for you.
