Post #3 – Women’s Memoirs, Author Conversations – Kendra Bonnett and Matilda Butler
Last week I started a series of brief interviews with memoir authors that I’m calling Memoir Moments. Over the coming year, I’ll pose questions to these amazing women. For now, I’m asking them to share their insights on effective ways to start a memoir.
Here’s Your Memoir Moment #1 with Linda Joy Myers, author of Don’t Call Me Mother: Breaking the Cycle of Mother-Daughter Abandonment. Hope you enjoy her words of wisdom on getting started. I was struck by the beauty of her first paragraphs when she read them during the interview. I think hearing her will inspire you.

I stumbled onto this web site because I was searching for info on social networking. Of course, one link led to another…and I listened to the podcast with the author of “Don’t Call Me Mother.” I am interested in abandonment issues. On my blog, about being sent to a Catholic boarding school for first through third grades in the Sixties. My single, divorced mother was doing her best to support us. The boarding school nuns proved not to be the best mother substitute. I endured punishments for the smallest of slights. Always, I felt alone and homesick. I’ve ordered this book as soon as the podcast finished. Can’t wait to read it! I’ve also added your feed. Many thanks!
