Memoir Writing Contest Winners Announced

Women’s Memoirs is pleased to announced the winners of our Memories of Winter contest. We had a much larger number of entries than in previous contests and so it took us quite a while to review them all and select those that will be published in an ebook.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes to look at the list and to offer your congratulations to these winners. We are always honored to receive entries for our contests. It shows a willingness and determination to share stories–treasured stories. It is easier to sit and write but never submit your work. So we thank all of you who did enter–even if you didn’t win this time. Please keep polishing your stories and entering contests, whether ours or those offered on other sites.

Congratulations to all the winners of the Winter Memories contest! And, a most sincere “Thank you” to Matilda Butler and Kendra Bonnett for the privilege to submit my story, for giving my story a place to speak, and most of all, for picking it as one of the winners. I am truly grateful.

Ronda Armstrong April 17, 2013 at

A warm congratulations to my sister writers on the Winter Memories winners’ list. I echo Pamela’s praise of Matilda and Kendra — they do so much to encourage women to tell their stories and give opportunities to do so. Thank you!

Donna Larkin April 17, 2013 at

WOW….I am gob-smacked!!!Thank you so much for
giving me the opportunity to submit my story (my first
ever online experience…a huge hurdle for me). Heartfelt congratulations to all the writers who submitted, to Matilda and Kendra and a special gracias
to two dear sister writers J.C. Sullivan and Arlene Pervin
of the PVWG…without your encouragement, i would not
have submitted.

Kathe Campbell April 17, 2013 at

Oh how I needed to be in the winner’s circle once again on this cold and snowy week in April. I have always loved telling this story to the grandchildren and greats, and now it’s in print. Kudos to the editors, your picks always shine.
Gratefully,
Kathe Campbell

Thank you Matilda and Kendra for wonderful and much appreciated news this cold and wet Mordialloc morning. (We are heading into winter in Oz, with the last glorious days of autumn fading!) I echo all the sentiments from the other writers and feel privileged you deemed my writing good enough to be included in such esteemed company. The news is timely encouragement to motivate me to keep writing:) Your mastering of technology is awe-inspiring so no apologies necessary for any delay in publishing! Happy writing everyone.

What a service you provide for developing writers, Matilda and Kendra. It must be in some ways a thankless job. But giving us a voice? That is so appreciated—by all of us, I am sure.
