Post #28 – Women’s Memoirs, News – Matilda Butler and Kendra Bonnett
I had to concede the point. Kendra was right. (This isn’t the first time that she’s been right, by the way.) Therefore, I’m publicly eating crow, quite a feat for a vegan.
I wrote the blog about our new Women’s Memoir Writing Contest that was posted earlier today. All of our readers are invited to submit a memoir vignette and treasured family recipe for publication in our KitchenScraps series. Kendra and I will read the contest entries and choose the winners. I envisioned that the first place winner in both March and April — the two months of the contest — would be published with the announcement that this was the winning entry for the month. Then runner-ups would be published later.
Kendra said that wasn’t enough for the first place winner to receive. We went back and forth. Then she finally talked me into a prize — one for each first place winner. In addition to getting the story published on our website with the notation that it won first place, the winner wil also receive our [Essential] Women’s Memoir Writing Workshop, a 5-DVD set. This product sells for $132 and is based on my in-person workshop that costs $200.
I was incredulous. I kept saying to Kendra, “Free? You mean we give this away?” We’ve never done this before. Well, as you can tell from the headline, she won.
If you want to see the rules, you can go to our Contest Page.
Remember — there is no cost to enter this contest. Send your story and recipe to Matilda Butler
As Kendra always says: Now, get to writing!
