#1: MEMOIR WRITING CONFERENCE
Let me share information about a writers conference that may interest you.

As you are aware, Kendra and I frequently mention Story Circle Network. It is a wonderful organization that helps women tell their stories. SCN’s upcoming conference is: Stories From the Heart V. The conference will be in Austin, TX from February 5 – February 7. The keynoters are Heather Summerhayes Cariou, author of the memoir Sixtyfive Roses, and Mary Gordon Spence, author of Finding Magic in the Mundane.

Kendra and I have been asked to conduct the Friday afternoon pre-conference workshop that we’ve entitled: Writing with Heart: 5 Easy Steps to Writing with Emotion, Energy and Color. We’ve planned an exciting and informative presentation. In addition, we’ll both be on the Getting Published panel.

Some of our students (both in class and online) have already registered and we’d love to see you there as well. Let us know if you decide to attend as we’d like to arrange to get to meet you in person.

The lowest conference fees are available right now. Fees go up on December 16. We thought by letting you know now that you might consider making Stories from the Heart a holiday present to yourself.

The link to the registration is: http://www.storycircle.org/Conference/frmregister.php

By the way, if you are not yet a member of SCN, this is the time to join. Member rates for the conference are lower than non-member rates. The membership ($35 for the year) more than pays for itself in just this one conference.

If you’d like to know more about our pre-conference workshop, you’ll find a description in my most recent guest post on Story Circle Network’s blog: Telling HerStories.

By the way, our pre-conference workshop is an additional $30. We hope to see you there as we have some special activities planned. The price includes a FREE copy of our forthcoming book: Five Magical Elements that Turn Your Words into Gold: Secrets of Writing Alchemy.

ACROSS OUR DESKS…

#2: WANT TO SHARE A MEMORY?
We were recently contacted by a new service that might interest you. http://newobit.com recognized the desire by many people to honor a loved one — friend or family — who has died. Newspaper obituaries are important but quickly gone. If you want more information on writing a memory that will always be online, go to newobit.com.

#3: YOUR STORY AS A MOVIE?
The 2010 Hollywood Book Festival has just issued its call for books and even unpublished manuscripts that might be of interest to the “film, television, game and multimedia communities.” If you think your story is appropriate, you can get additional information:

Entry forms are available online at: www.hollywoodbookfestival.com or may be faxed/e-mailed to you by emailing HollywoodBKFest@aol.com. Applications must be accompanied by a non-refundable entry fee via check, money order or PayPal online payment of $75 in U.S. dollars for each submission. Multiple submissions are permitted but each entry must be accompanied by a separate form and entry fee.
