I too can relate, more than once. Once I was told by my husband's boss! The other fellow told me himself that he was moving in with his secretary. By then, I was jaded. I served him with divorce papers on July 4th. It seemed fitting. However, I have no idea at all what I was cooking either time. Years later, I made personal gingerbread boys and girls for the tree designed for each grandchild, complete with the matching hair color and eye color and an outfit in their favorite color, and their name and birth date printed on the back.

Thanks for sharing this story,Rhonda, Gingerbread men have always been a part of our Christmases and are still a favorite of my grown sons. But I can see why making them again took courage with the painful memory attached. My ex at least had the, um, gumption to tell me to my face--when we returned from a trip celebrating our 37th anniversary! But at least he didn't ruin the gingerbread guys!
