Free Teleseminar and Free Blog Book Tour Course

Post #12 – Women’s Memoirs, News & Announcements – Kendra Bonnett and Matilda Butler

Today, we have two items of interest for memoir writers and authors:

First, we’ve just had an email from our colleague Linda Joy Myers. She is enthusiastic about the free teleseminar that her National Association of Memoir Writers is sponsoring. She says, “This event is huge with all the great names in Writing as Healing participating tomorrow (Thursday April 23) from 10 AM-4 PM. The list includes Dr. James Pennebaker, the major researcher about this topic, Kay Adams, the director of the Journal 2008 Conference, Christina Baldwin, Lucia Cappacione, and Marina Nemat.

“They will be speaking about all the ways they’ve used writing to heal, and of course Dr. Pennebaker will discuss his famous research. Marina Nemat talks about how she had to write to heal the wounds from her traumatic imprisonment and torture at the Evian prison in Tehran. She is a powerful speaker, and most of you already know Kay Adams, director of last year’s fabulous Journal Conference 2008 where Christina and Lucia and myself all gave workshops. What a great gathering it was, and we have several of the presenters from the conference here with us to inspire and teach us about using writing to heal.”

What if you can’t be on the line all the time? Not a problem. Linda Joy has assured us that everyone who signs up receives the audio downloads a few days after the event.

Second, our colleague Dani Greer at Story Circle Network has just told us about her free blog book tour course that she teaches through yahoogroup. This next call begins May 1 and runs for two months. Dani writes, “The class is limited to 50 new authors who have a current book published that they need to tour this year.”

If you have a new book, this is an important course for you. Blog book tours are not just the future, they are the present. Any author knowing how to have a successful blog book tour is way ahead of the competition.

Here’s your link. To sign up, you need to give your name and the title of your book.
